Thanks for taking the time to learn more about Reformed Mission Services (RMS). I’ve had the distinct privilege of being part of RMS since the very beginning. I served on the original board when we were first dreaming about how we could come alongside local churches and provide meaningful ways to serve others in the name of Christ.** **Back in 2007, we held our very first TASC event in Visalia, California, and at the same time, a small group of men was working hard to build a foundation for what would become RMS. What started as a part-time effort for me eventually grew into a full-time calling—and now, by God's grace, RMS is staffed by a team of three full-time and one part-time worker.** **We’ve grown a lot since those early days, but our heart remains the same: to serve the local church and to help mobilize the Body of Christ to demonstrate Christ’s compassion, both near and far.** **Whether it’s through short-term mission trips, disaster response, ministry development, or leadership training, everything we do is centered around one mission: helping churches fulfill the Great Commission.** **We're continually seeking to grow and improve in all we do, and that’s only possible because of our faithful board, our generous supporters, and our dedicated volunteers. We hope that relationships would begin between those in the field and those who travel to serve alongside them.** **RMS is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to service. We seek to serve our member churches as well as their church planters, missionaries, and ministry partners. We are committed to serving the body of believers in these churches both locally and throughout the world. Above all, we desire to serve Christ in our efforts to advance the gospel message and see the fulfillment of the Great Commission.** **We recognize that God has ordained the Church to be the one who sends people into the mission field. Our desire is to partner with churches to be a mobilizer, preparing men and women to be sent. It is our prayer that a bond will be created between those on the field and those who leave home to serve alongside them. We hope that both will be mutually blessed through these opportunities of service. It is also our prayer that through these opportunities, the Holy Spirit would foster a zeal and enthusiasm for missions and evangelism both on the mission field and at home.** **Our goal is not merely to come alongside churches or work independently from them. RMS seeks to work through local churches for every service opportunity. We desire to prepare church members as the body of Christ to be ready to serve by equipping them and providing opportunities to put their faith into practice. As our teams serve, they do so as ambassadors for a local church so that they can point people to that church where God has promised to speak. Lord-willing through the word preached in that church, they can hear the gospel proclaimed and come to saving faith in Jesus Christ.** **RMS is also unique as it is itself overseen by a local consistory and is accountable to their elders. We are currently under the oversight of the consistory of Trinity United Reformed Church (URCNA) in Visalia, California.** - Field has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of RMS since 2016.  He is a member of First PCA in Ripon, California. He is a retired attorney and educator.  He teaches members of the non-legal professions the science, art, and skill of being an effective expert witnesses in court and is a regular lecturer on various cruise lines. Harry Van't Voort is married to Char and they reside in Ripon, CA where they attend Zion Reformed Church. Harry is the owner/operator of a trucking company. He has been to Costa Rica numerous times to help with the construction of the Tepeyac Schools. Gerald Nuiver is a member of Cornerstone URC, Hudsonville Michigan. He became a Board member after being involved with multiple TASC groups at local churches. He has been married to his wife Marnie for 35 years, and currently is an Engineering Manager for Advance Technology and Automation at Lacks Enterprises in Grand Rapids Michigan. Gerald and Marnie have been involved in youth ministries at different times over 20 years in their Church. Mike Kamps is a resident of Wayland, MI, where he lives with loving wife and three children, two sons, and a daughter. As a family, they are active members of the Dutton URC, where Mike helps lead the young people group. Mike works as a HVAC technician and jobsite foreman for a mechanical contractor. He recently had the opportunity to visit Peru with RMS, which solidified his interest in getting involved. Kevin Offringa is a member of Dutton URC, Dutton Michigan. He became a Board member after going on multiple TASC trips and Disaster Response trips to Houston, Texas and Arroyo, Puerto Rico. He is married to Amber and currently is the Technology Administrator at Moline Christian School. Kevin and Amber both serve on the TASC Administration committee. DeWayne Dykstra is a member of Redeemer URC in Orange City, Iowa. He is married to Kathy, and together they have four sons. Before becoming a Board member with Reformed Mission Services (RMS), DeWayne actively participated in several RMS Disaster Response and Ministry Development trips, serving in various locations. He has continued this involvement as a Board member by assisting in Black Cave, North Carolina, and Villahermosa, Mexico. Todd Hilton is married to Michelle, and they have two daughters, Olivia and Avery. They attend Redeemer OPC in Ada, Michigan. They have also been involved in TASC trips and have worked together to plan and organize these trips. Todd runs a small lawn mowing and snow plow business and Michelle works at a local Christian school. This will be Todd's third time serving on the RMS Board, and he is eager to continue his service with the rest of the board members. Jay Hofland is from Sanborn, Iowa and is a member of Cornerstone URC along with his wife of more than 30 years, Carla. Jay has participated in two RMS trips over the years, both in Peru.  Julian Laarman lives with his wife Tanya in Taber, Alberta, Canada and are members of Trinity Reformed Church in Lethbridge. He works as a contractor and has a hobby farm. He is actively using his many talents on the RMS Board. Mark Stolk has been married to Michelle for 22 years and they have 4 children. They live east of Ponoka, Alberta, Canada and Mark farms with his two brothers and they do some equipment sales of seeding equipment. He and the family are members of the Parkland URC Church. Chris Van Eeden Petersman lives in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada and is a member of Trinity Reformed Church. He is an active snow skier in the wintertime and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren on the slopes but also around the table discussing things of eternal importance. Chris retired from farming and has been very involved in building relationships with the older generation in his community.  Ron Verhoeven is a member of Trinity URC in Visalia, California. He served on the original Board of RMS and is now serving once again. He was involved with the first TASC project and has helped out with several since then. Ron is married to Bev and they have 4 adult children along with 16 grandchildren. Ken Anema. It was titled “Hands-On Evangelism”. Rev. Anema walked us through some common fears that we may have and how to overcome these fears. He also taught us practical ways to start relationships with others who may not know about the good news of Jesus Christ. Above all, Rev. Anema emphasized the fact that **we need to remember everyday that WE need the gospel message in our lives before we can share it with others**.  Dr. Jeff Doll, the director of the Institute for Reformed Biblical Counseling and the Shepherd's Way Reformed Biblical Counseling Center Network INC., writes, *“This Evangelism Conference, led by Pastor Ken Anema, was one of several ways the Lord has begun to answer months of prayers that have been offered by many within the Cornerstone congregation. At the heart of our prayers has been a passionate plea that God would help us, and other confessional reformed congregations, become more intentional about carrying out the Great Commission. This conference not only* *provided insights surrounding some of the common fears associated with sharing the gospel, but it also equipped us with practical ways of sharing it.*  *One of the wonderful features of this conference was how its leader challenged its participants, which included myself, to identify areas of personal unbelief and the importance of Christians evangelizing themselves daily. Of course, honestly recognizing and repenting of unbelief and reminding ourselves of who we are in Jesus can give us helpful insights on how to reach people outside of Christ with the gospel. I will be encouraging our counseling students to watch the recording of this conference in order that they may receive practical "boots on the ground" instruction for sharing Jesus with others. The church can use these programs both to build new relationships in their community and strengthen existing ones. TASC is a one-week Christian service trip specially designed for high school students and college freshmen, approximately 14-19 years old. The primary goal of TASC is to instill a heart for Christian service among young people. TASC achieves this by training and equipping them to participate in community outreach efforts alongside the host congregation. During the trip, TASCers have the opportunity to identify and use their God-given gifts and talents to serve the Lord and love others. The VBS Outreach Program is designed to support small churches and church plants that may lack the resources or manpower to host a VBS event independently. RMS recruits a larger church to plan a VBS event, including everything involved with it. The team then collaborates with the members of the host church to organize a VBS event in their community, with the aim of evangelism and ministry outreach. Window washing, construction of handicap ramps, painting, landscaping, and yard cleanup are all excellent ways for community outreach. When we offer to assist with these basic tasks, it often provides us with the opportunity to share the gospel with the people we are serving. These efforts can help initiate relationships with the individuals in the community. A group of RMS volunteers recently served in Bat Cave, a small mountain town in Western North Carolina. This area was hit hard by the hurricanes of 2024, with heavy rainfall causing rivers to flood and roads to wash away. The damage left families displaced and homes severely impacted. Our team spent a week assisting in various projects—repairing homes, clearing debris, building retaining walls, and restoring essential utilities. It was a blessing to come alongside those in need and show Christ’s love in tangible ways. With your help, we raised over **$250,000** and completed major recovery work at Rock Valley URC, including replacing electrical systems, drywall, flooring, trim, and HVAC units. Meals and grocery gift cards were distributed, and counseling resources were shared with the community. We’re also thankful for the use of RMS trailers—our shower trailer served families in Spencer, and the tool trailer supported rebuilding efforts in Rock Valley. SEED is an program that aims to inspire people to answer the call to participate in the Gospel. It equips them with confidence and conviction in the promises of Scripture. Additionally, SEED seeks to challenge pastors and elders to better train their young people, including the Sowers on the SEED team. Jesus once said, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (Matthew 9:37-38). RMS has seen a great need to distribute the scriptures to those who need and desire to have it. In some parts of the world, the written Word is not feasible for people groups that are oral in their communication. Therefore, RMS is working with agencies that produce Audio Scriptures in the native languages where we serve. Currently, we are working on recording the Bible in Quechua, a native language of the Andes region of South America. We are also working on recording the Bible in Newari for the people of Nepal. So far, both dialects have the New Testament recorded. Please pray that this work will not be hindered and can be completed in the near future. RMS is dedicated to spreading the Gospel message through education. The Reformed faith has played a vital role in the growth of the church in the West. However, there are still many areas of the world where this understanding of the Bible has not yet reached. RMS is thankful for the opportunity to travel to these regions and introduce the creeds and confessions of the Reformed faith through seminars and conferences. This educational initiative aims to provide a deeper understanding of the Bible to those who may not otherwise have access to such teaching. RMS assembles teams of volunteers to travel to locations recommended by our member churches and their missionaries. These teams work alongside local believers to build churches, ministry centers, seminaries, pastors' homes, and other vital structures that support the spread of the Gospel. RMS has been privileged to serve in countries such as Costa Rica, Peru, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, and Japan. At times, RMS raises and distributes funds to support ministries and missionaries. This may include purchasing land, supplying building materials, or assisting with special projects. Often, funds are used to hire local workers for construction, which strengthens the local economy. We require accountability for all funds sent and, when possible, send a representative to observe and report on the project’s progress. Many ministries lack the resources and labor to keep their buildings in good working condition. RMS forms volunteer teams to assist with these needs and also seeks donations to cover material costs. We hope that relationships would begin between those in the field and those who travel to serve alongside them. Read about our work in Cincinnati in our 9.2 Witness! **ASCENSION REFORMED CHURCH BUILDING PROJECT - A COMMUNITY, FOUNDED UPON SCRIPTURE, THAT TAKES REFUGE IN JESUS CHRIST.** In 2013, Westside Reformed Church began as a small church plant on Cincinnati’s west side. Over the years, they have grown and planted three new churches. Now, as they prepare to move into their first permanent building in the heart of Cincinnati, they have changed their name to Ascension Reformed Church. There is renovation that needs to be done before they can move in. RMS is thankful for the opportunity to help with some of this renovation. Now, they're undertaking an exciting renovation of their historic church building and transforming a neighboring house into “Covenant House,” a vibrant ministry center that will include classrooms, a food pantry, housing for missionaries, and more. With costs totaling just under $40,000 for essential updates like roofing, siding, paint, and flooring, your support can make a real difference. We partner with the Ministry Center established by Dr. Neal Hegeman, who has been instrumental in planting churches and founding a Christian school in the region. Our teams have supported the local community by helping build churches and parsonages, and by maintaining and improving the Ministry Center. Bill and Aletha Green in San José, Costa Rica, for several years, supporting their gospel-centered ministries through hands-on service and encouragement. Our teams have assisted with a variety of projects, including construction and improvements at the CLIR print shop, as well as work on local high school and grade school buildings. On upcoming trips, we hope to continue supporting this vital ministry by helping in the print shop, doing maintenance and repairs on the property, and assisting with church plant initiatives in the area. Reformed Mission Services has been serving in Peru for many years, partnering with local churches and leaders from Iglesia Evangélica de Perú, the oldest Protestant denomination in the country, to encourage the growth of Christ’s Kingdom. Our teams have had the privilege of working alongside faithful believers in various communities—helping with construction projects, supporting congregations, and sharing the love of Christ. We are grateful for the continued opportunity to serve the church in Peru and are already looking forward to our next trip! Reformed Mission Services is grateful for the growing partnership with believers in Japan. Through our work with Christ Center Church in Chiba and other congregations in the Tokyo area, our teams have supported local leaders in evangelism, encouraged university outreach, and shared the hope of Christ in a country where the gospel witness is small but vital. We are thankful for the opportunity to continue building these relationships and look forward with excitement to the next chance to serve! *In partnership with the Haitian American Friendship Foundation (HAFF.org)* For many years, RMS has served in Bohoc, Haiti, working alongside the Haitian American Friendship Foundation (HAFF) on Haiti’s Central Plateau. This rural, farming community—far from Port-au-Prince—has been the site of meaningful ministry and deep relationships. Although we have not traveled to Haiti in recent years due to the political unrest in the country, we remain prayerfully hopeful that future trips will resume when conditions allow. During past trips, our teams—limited to 15 participants (ages 18+) due to housing arrangements—have assisted with remodeling and maintenance around the HAFF compound. In addition to construction work, we’ve visited homes of individuals connected to HAFF and local churches who have experienced physical or financial hardship. God’s Holy Word is everything needed for faith and life. RMS believes that the Three Forms of Unity (the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession of Faith and the Canons of Dort) and the Westminster Confessions faithfully summarize God’s word. **The historicity of the creation account, the virgin birth of Christ, and the death and resurrection of Christ:** RMS believes that the first two chapters of Genesis are fully historical and factual. They accurately relate the truth of God’s creation of all things ex nihilo in the space of six days. The Virgin Birth of Christ is historically accurate, revealing our Savior as both fully God and fully Man and is therefore a fundamental doctrine of the true Christian faith. The death and resurrection of Christ are historical events that both earned and guarantee our salvation. Jesus Christ’s perfect life of obedience to God’s Law establishes the ground of our acceptance with the Father. Through Christ’s sacrificial death He establishes the grounds for our pardon from the Father. Christ’s resurrection from the dead then verifies to the world that Christ’s perfect life and sacrificial death were found to be completely acceptable by the Father.  **The Doctrine of the Covenant as it relates to the work of evangelism and missions:** The Covenant of Redemption, made within the inter-Trinitarian Godhead before the foundations of the world were ever laid governs and controls all evangelism and missions. The Covenant of Works, made between God and Adam, promised life to Adam and his posterity upon condition of perfect obedience. Man, by his fall, has made himself incapable of life by that Covenant, but the Lord has made a second covenant with man, called the Covenant of Grace, in which He freely offers life and salvation to all by Jesus Christ, requiring faith in Him that they may be saved, and promising to give to all those who are ordained to eternal life the gift of the Holy Spirit making them willing and able to believe. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the message that should be brought to lost and dying man.  **The doctrine of election and reprobation:** RMS believes in the doctrine of God’s eternal decree, according to which He graciously softens the hearts of the elect, however obstinate, and inclines them to believe; while He leaves the non-elect in His just judgment to their own wickedness and obduracy.  **The total depravity and spiritual inability of fallen man:** RMS believes that fallen man’s depravity is total and his moral inability to do anything concerning his lost state is complete.  **The sovereignty of God in the salvation of man:** RMS holds completely and unwaveringly to all of the Doctrines of Grace (a.k.a. the Five Points of Calvinism). These Biblical truths unequivocally reveal the absolute sovereignty of God over every part of this universe and over every single human being.  **The role of preaching in the work of evangelism and missions:** Christ-centered, accurate Gospel preaching holds the primary role in evangelism and missions. (Romans 10:14)  **Ecumenicity:** True faith in Jesus Christ brings spiritual ecumenicity to the Church of Christ, and this unity should be evident to the world. The complete corporate unity of all true believers will not come until the second coming of Christ.  **The charismatic movement:** RMS believes that all of the special gifts of Pentecost (including but not limited to speaking in tongues, continuing prophecy and the gifts of the Holy Spirit) have ceased with the passing of the first apostles. However, the events of Pentecost should continue to drive the Church of God today.  **Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality:** Because God has ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and Himself, RMS recognizes only marriages between a biological man and a biological woman. The facilities and property belonging to or leased by RMS shall only host weddings between one man and one woman.  ***Grounds:*** We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God. (Genesis 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Genesis 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.) We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of RMS as the extension of the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the RMS members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by RMS in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this statement on marriage and sexuality. (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:14-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:22.) We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.) We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of RMS.  **Women in church office:** Holy Scripture does not allow women to hold the ordained offices of the church. (1 Timothy 2:11).  **Sanctity of Human Life:** RMS believes that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including unborn babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps 139.)  **Ecclesiastical supervision over RMS and its manner of execution:** The Bylaws of RMS provide for close association between RMS and a Consistory/Session of Referral. The Consistory/Session of Referral monitors the activities of RMS and is available to RMS for mentoring, referral of theological questions and disagreements and for mediation and arbitration of disputes. The current Consistory/Session of referral is the Consistory of the Trinity United Reformed Church located in Visalia, CA. We recognize the 66 books of the Bible to be the Canon of Scripture, the total and complete revelation of God. The revelation of the Word ended with the death of the apostles. **Christian Doctrines:** RMS believes that the teachings of the Three Forms of Unity, the Westminster Standards, and the three Ecumenical Creeds are all in accordance with the Word of God. They are to be used to assist the believer in the study of God’s Word. These writings do not take the place of Holy Scripture, but they complement Scripture by simplifying and explaining the truths found in the Bible. **Member Church:** In order for a body of believers in Christ to be considered a member church of RMS, its Consistory/Session is asked to subscribe to the following statements: **Missionary:** “The church’s missionary task is to preach the Word of God to the unconverted. When this task is to be performed beyond the field of an organized church, it is to be carried out by ordained ministers of the Word set apart to this labor, who are called, supported, and supervised by their Consistories. The churches should assist each other in the support of their missionaries.”\[1\] Therefore RMS deems missionaries to be those who hold the office of Minister of the Word. They are ordained, supervised, and commissioned by a local church Consistory. **Missionary Helpers (see also Individuals Going to the Field):** “Although the Church’s involvement in missions is to be conducted at an official and commissioned level, it would be a grave error to conclude that non-commissioned members of Christ’s church are therefore excluded from participation. The New Testament is replete with examples of individuals who volunteered their time, gifts, and resources for the Kingdom (Luke 19:29-34; 22:9-13; 23:50-56). During Paul’s ministry we find even more participation from individual believers: those whose hospitality he enjoyed (Acts 16:14- 25), his fellow travelers (Acts 19:29; 20:4), his fellow laborers (Romans 16:3; Phil 4:2-3), and all the others who are typically mentioned at the close of most of his epistles. Those practices lead us to believe that there is ample room in missions for those who are not office bearers. They may be labeled as ‘missionary helpers’. There is ample room for individual service. In certain areas the work of individuals or independent organizations can be effectively incorporated alongside the institutional work of the Church.”\[2\] The work of such “Missionary Helpers” is wide and varied. They may be using their talents as builders, mechanics, doctors, nurses, teachers, canvassers, or those trained in evangelism. There are some organizations that act as “Missionary Helpers” as well. These organizations are throughout the world bringing relief to those who are in need physically, mentally, and emotionally. They may bring goods like food, water, and clothing. They may bring services such as medical care, dental care, Biblical counseling, and Reformed literature to those who are in need. Missionary Helpers, both domestic and foreign, are those who show acts of mercy to those who are in need. These individuals and organizations are using their God-given talents to spread the Gospel and show Christ-like love and compassion. This service may be for a short term or for a long-term. Individuals are to be supervised by a local church Consistory and supported by many different people and churches. Through faith in Christ, these individuals hold the office of Believer. It is our conviction that it is of utmost importance for these “Helpers” to work in conjunction with a local church or missionary as they carry out the work of Christ. RMS deems Missionary Helpers to primarily be individuals who are not ordained into a specific office of the church, yet are believers who travel to the mission field to perform service work for people groups and to be a “Reformed” presence in that community. Their spiritual over-sight comes from the consistory of the church of which they are members. Funds to support such individuals are provided from individual donors and/or churches and organizations. These funds may be routed through the organization or the group that they are assisting. Oversight of a Missionary or a Missionary Helper: RMS holds fast to the principle that the local church is ultimately governed by its ordained elders (the Consistory). It is these elders who have the final authority in dealing with the spiritual health of the individual who is on or is travelling to the mission field in a particular area of the world. RMS is not a sending organization for such individuals. However, RMS will attempt to come along-side and help the Missionaries, Missionary Helpers, Ministry of Mercy Organizations, and Church Planters who are deemed worthy of such help by a Consistory of our member churches. For more specifics concerning the Consistory’s role in the planning of a service project see the “Supervision” section of these definitions. **Ministry of Mercy organizations:** Ministry of Mercy organizations (MoM) are organizations that are set up, over seen, and sent by a local consistory to assist the distribution of material goods and supplies in Jesus Christ’s name. These may or may not have a Minister of the Word as its director. It is up to the elders of a church to determine whether a particular MoM is deemed worthy of support by that church. These organizations pass out materials to those who come for assistance in order to bring the Gospel to those whom they are helping. RMS supports these Ministry of Mercy organizations and will assist them, when asked, based upon the decision of the overseeing church. RMS understands that these institutions are very important in helping the Gospel to be introduced into places that do not have Missionaries present. **“Non-Reformed” Christian Ministries:** RMS considers these to be organizations that do not necessarily have the “Three Forms of Unity” or the Westminster Standards at their foundation. As such, they are “non-Reformed” in their understanding of Scripture and in their formation. RMS believes, however, that there are times that exposure to our confessions through the interaction of our Reformed volunteers may help those in such groups to come to know our Reformed beliefs. By this interaction, those who are served will come to see where we stand on issues of Scripture from our Reformed perspective, and with God’s help they may be led to a richer understanding of His Word. RMS will assist such “Non-Reformed” Christian ministries only upon the approval and recommendation of a consistory of our member churches. **“Non-Christian” Ministries:** RMS considers ministries like “Habitat for Humanity” for example to be in this category. They supply material needs to the community at large. We believe that it is up to a local Consistory to decide whether such an agency is worthy of their support. Working with such organizations can give us the opportunity to share the gospel of Christ with those with whom we are working, as well as to show the love of Christ to them by using our gifts and abilities as a willing volunteer. RMS will assist such “Non-Christian” ministries only upon the approval and recommendation of a **Missionary Associates:** The Orthodox Presbyterian Church considers lay people, as well as those who are ordained, who come alongside Active Missionaries in their particular field to be “Missionary Associates.” RMS considers Missionary Associates to be in the same category as “Missionary Helpers” and “Individuals Going to the Field (Non-Ordained).” RMS will work with like- minded denominations such as those who are members of NAPARC (North American Presbyterian and Reformed Churches) to assist them in finding individual workers when asked, and by offering opportunities to believers from our RMS member churches to help fill these needs. Individuals Going to the Field (Non-Ordained): From time to time, individuals are given opportunities to serve in missions on a longer term capacity than just one or two weeks. More support may be needed for these individuals, and they may be asked to give that support directly to the organization that they are serving. These particular organizations may or may not be of the historic Reformed persuasion. Each consistory should make their own decision as to whether or not that individual will be doing the work of God on that particular field and if they are able to bring a Reformed perspective to the organization which he or she will be helping. Each individual is ultimately under the supervision of their consistory even if he or she is working somewhere else. If that consistory deems the individual and the work that they will be doing worthy, then the elders in good conscience should be able to send the support needed. As stated already RMS understands the importance of individuals to be under the supervision of their Consistory. They are valuable tools in the hands of the Holy Spirit for the spread of the truths of the Reformed faith and the Gospel of Christ. As such they are worthy of our prayers and help. **Church Plants:** Church Plants are a group of individuals or families that hold fast to the Reformed faith and desire to meet together for Bible Study and Worship. A Minister of the Word is called to shepherd this group. A church plant usually does not have the resources either financially or spiritually to be on its own, so they are typically under the supervision of an established consistory. Once men have been found to step into the official offices of the church (Elders and Deacons), they usually proceed to becoming an organized church. This does not necessarily mean that they are now completely stable financially, but it does mean that spiritually they are striving to be sound in doctrine and life. RMS will strive to come alongside these Church Plants and Church Planters who have the approval of an overseeing Consistory. We uphold all these Church Plants as worthy, however the Church Plants that are overseen by our member churches will take precedence for us as we do our work. **Consistory:** Throughout this document the term “consistory” refers to the ruling body of elders, officially installed into this office, who preside over the individual believers in a given church. **Supervision:** The oversight of a RMS sponsored or assisted trip falls upon the church’s consistory of which the individual or group are members. An individual or group should approach and make their consistory aware of their intentions to go on a trip. The group or individual should gain approval from their consistory as to whether or not they should participate. Each group should have a designated leader who goes on the trip with them who has the capabilities to serve the group as their spiritual leader. That leader should ordinarily have a plan for daily devotions and/or instruction. These do not necessarily have to be formal times of worship, but there does need to be daily times of reflection and direction to help keep the perspective of why the group is there. The elders should evaluate each trip and the individuals who go on it so as to oversee the spiritual aspect of the trip and group. While RMS strives to help our Reformed brothers and sisters first, there are other areas of the world that also need to see Reformed truths lived out in the lives of those who volunteer. We rely on the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of those we assist in order to turn them to Him. RMS desires for everyone to come under the means of grace by the pure preaching of the Gospel. As RMS makes inroads into the different communities of the world it is our prayer that by the example of those serving with us that the Spirit will move those who witness our lives to have a saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. RMS will attempt to avoid travel on the Lord’s Day and to avoid travel times that would prevent the proper preparation of our participants for worship on Sunday. All travel plans suggested by RMS should always be brought to the local consistory for their advice and direction as it pertains to the members under their care. The Consistory of each participant should also examine all the travel plans for the trip and give their approval. For example, if the trip would cause those involved to be absent from the means of grace on a Lord’s Day, or if the travel would cause them not to be properly prepared for worship the consistory should consider whether or not to give their approval to the trip. The decision of the elders concerning such travel is to be considered the authority over any RMS advice that is given. Whenever an RMS trip takes place over a Sunday we will ensure that a God-glorifying worship service is available for our participants to attend. RMS does not spiritually oversee any service project and deems that this is best left for the local consistory – or consistories in joint projects – to do. Individuals or groups are to obtain the approval of their elders before undertaking any trip. We specialize in providing opportunities and training for fruitful, enjoyable mission work for young people and adults alike. RMS prepares teams to be a blessing to missionaries and church planters as we partner with their ongoing efforts. **How does RMS differ from other Missions Organizations?** RMS is an organization accountable to and under the oversight of elders. While multi-denominational in its outreach, a historical Reformed perspective will dominate our mission endeavors. Sowing the gospel seed through the word will be stressed alongside the many helpful deeds performed during any mission opportunity. No. RMS works alongside missionaries and church planters to assist them in their ongoing ministries. RMS leaves oversight responsibilities to calling churches and supporting churches of missionaries and church planters. **Will Mission Opportunities have restrictions on participation?** Participation in the mission opportunities of RMS will be limited to those of high school age or older. Such opportunities will be tailored to individuals and groups. A first-time mission opportunity experience for those of high school age will usually be limited to stateside opportunities, particularly on Teens Actively Serving Christ (TASC) trip. Depending on the mission field needs for any mission opportunity, other restrictions may apply. **How will safety be determined on a given missions opportunity?** RMS places a strong emphasis on safety for all involved with our ministries. On trips that may include elevated risk, we will be certain to let potential registrants know ahead of time so they can prayerfully decide whether to participate or find another opportunity. We continue to monitor certain risks such as political unrest, crime rate, disease, etc., and will call off any trip that the RMS Board deems too dangerous to carry out. Also, vaccination and passport requirements along with vital travel information will also be provided. Finally, RMS requires trip insurance for each participant on every trip and includes the cost of the insurance in the registration fee. **Can I participate even if I belong to a non-member church?** Yes, all applicants are considered for RMS trips regardless of whether or not applicants are from member churches. It is our hope that such participants will encourage their church to consider becoming members of RMS to support and encourage this ministry. Participants are responsible for the entire cost of the trip. Trip cost is determined by RMS and may include the cost of transportation, food, lodging, a planned day away activity, a donation to missionary for building materials, etc. Nominal administrative fees will also be included which includes trip insurance, t-shirt, etc. Costs for trips may vary significantly due to location, needed materials, and other factors. However, the cost will always be determined prior to any trip commitments. Ultimately, the responsibility of upholding this policy is left to the discretion of your Leaders and the RMS Board Representative on this trip. Shirts must not contain writing or images that are unsuitable for a Christian. 2. **PANTS, SHORTS and SKIRTS:** Pants, Shorts and Skirts must be mid-thigh in length or longer and loose fitting (no spandex or yoga pants). Please do not wear anything with writing on the seat. 3. **SWIMWEAR:** Modest swimwear is mandatory. For women, a one-piece or tankini is permitted provided that all personal areas are well covered (midriff, cleavage). For men, no brief-style speedos. It has been determined that the safety of the members of the church in Los Cuadros is no longer viable for them to continue worshipping there. Money has been raised, and a lot has been purchased for the new building. Site improvements are underway. RMS is seeking donations at this time for Phase 2 of the project which includes preliminary plans, soil testing, final construction plans and permitting. The cost for this phase is $13,500.00 USD. Once this phase is completed and the permits are in hand, we will be moving on to Phase 3 which is the actual construction of the church building. That particular phase is estimated to cost approximately $140,000.00 USD.** **Up in the foothills of the Himalayas there is a church named Aashish Church. RMS was asked to raise money to construct a new Church building for the ever-growing congregation. The people walk from 12 different villages for worship and Bible-study. Included with that building would be two rooms where a clinic would be housed. It is a two and a half to three hour walk down the mountainside to receive basic first aid and another three hours to a hospital for more care when needed. The clinic would be staffed by a nurse during the day and congregation members at night.** **Villahermosa (Tabasco), México. A parsonage and upgrades to the existing church facilities. Work began with a team on April 8-16, 2025.** **Darjeeling Hills Bible College - Most of the work for the Phase 2 – Completion of the third Floor of the Logos Building has been done so they could hold their graduation ceremony there using funds from what was on hand from phase 3 and 4. They desire is to replenish the funds used from these two phases and continue to raise funds for the next two phases once the money has come in. The cost for this phase in $40,000. 00 USD. Once that money is raised, they will continue with Phase 3 next at $38,000.00 USD, and the final phase of $60,000.00 USD.** **RMS has partnered with Heidelberg Theological Seminary (Sioux Falls, SD) to provide internet and LOGOS Software for students in Africa and the Philippines so they can have access to the course taught remotely by the seminary. The cost for this project is $7,000.00 USD.** **Las Majadas, El Salvador. Phase 1. Construction of a combination of perimeter fence and building foundations are the scope of this project with an end result of a seminary and Bible college to train pastors and lay people in the reformed faith. The cost for this phase is $20,000.00 USD. Future projects will be presented as they are proposed to RMS. This is in conjunction with MINTS instructor Rev. José Ramirez.** **El Carmen - The construction of the first floor of a new church building.** **Alto Qosqo - A new church building/sanctuary. Some preliminary work has been completed and now it is time for the construction of the new building to worship. RMS had a team that helped here in Dec. 2025.** **Picchu - A new metal roof for the existing church building. The walls are constructed on this structure and new metal is needed.** **Challwacocha and Huacahuasi - They need to install cement on the walls to protect them from the rains. The cost for this project is $1,000.00 USD.** **Three churches in the Sabana Grande de Boya region need their wooden roofs replaced with concrete. RMS is planning to send volunteers to assist with the work in 2026. Additional funds received will be used for future projects in the Dominican Republic!** **Covenant Reformed Church in Carbondale, PA purchased an adjacent building to be used for community outreach and classrooms for Sunday School and Bible Study. There are many minor improvements to be done to the building inside and out.** **RMS is seeking donations to construct a building for reformed ministries in the West Michigan area. These ministries include Reformed Fellowship, Reformed Youth Services, and the Institute for Reformed Biblical Counseling. We are exploring land opportunities at little to no cost to the project lowering our budget by $200,000.00. You may be able to increase your potential impact — and experience significant tax benefits — by giving stock, real estate or other non-cash assets.  Lifetime income gifts are wonderful solutions for Christians who wish to give in a substantial way, but are concerned about retirement income. You can gift cash or other property, and receive steady income for the rest of your life (or a designated number of years). The remainder will go to benefit RMS. Your will (or trust) is your final act of stewardship and care, a means to purposefully allocate your resources to support the people and causes you hold dear. Many individuals choose to allocate a certain percentage of their estate toward charity, sometimes dividing this amount among multiple organizations. Over the years, the Lord has blessed their ministry, allowing them to grow and plant three new churches. As they moved into their first permanent home in the heart of Cincinnati, they adopted a new name: Ascension Reformed Church.** **The building—an old Baptist church—required significant renovation before it could be used. RMS is grateful for the opportunity to have assisted with some of this important work.** **We praise God that Ascension Reformed Church (URCNA) is now worshiping in the building! That is wonderful! It may seem overwhelming at times but we are here to make this as easy as possible! RMS has developed this timeline to provide you an aid to make sure you are doing this! This timeline provides an excellent list of expectations of what should happen each month leading up to the TASC event. If you deviate from this a little bit do not worry, this is designed to be a guide and will vary due to different circumstances at each church!  Though hosting a TASC is a lot of work, we have developed a manual to make it a lot easier! This manual contains information on how to best plan for and execute a successful TASC. Remember this is not an RMS TASC this is your church's TASC so you have plenty of freedom. This manual is a work in progress and we try to update it yearly. Please feel free to make suggestions!  Chores are a great way to have the participants help and take ownership of keeping the church clean and cleaning up after themselves. Your chore charts will vary but this should get you going in the right direction!  This is a quick reference guide that will help you get started! This has the basic information to know when it comes to wanting to host a TASC!  This is just a suggestion of what your schedule could look like! Depending on some of your personal factors such as worship service times and distances to shower houses the details will change!  This letter is sent to the participants ahead of their coming to your church! This is a great way to let them know some of the projects and get them excited about this opportunity to serve.
